PSA; also, the Perils of Meg · 11/27/2009 This is a public story

Do you live in the state of Florida? Are you interested in science education? Then please, please go to the Florida Science Standards Review Web site and take the time to leave your comments. For the first time in years, evolution has been reintroduced to the state science education standards. Of course, there's already a state board member refusing to vote in favor of the new standards because she's a creationist. If you believe that it's important to give kids a good, solid grounding in real science, you need to make sure your comments are heard. Please, Floridians, if this is important to you, take the time to give your comments to the state. The deadline is December 15th.=-=-=-=-=-=-=Poor Meg has had a tough three days.On Monday, because we found out that a friend she'd visited had a surprise case of head lice, I spent the evening treating her with Rid (after consulting with my OB to find out which treatments were okay for me to be in contact with). This included application of the treatment, a hair washing, application of a gel, combing out her hair in tiny sections, and then another hair washing. Which she helped with by dumping about half a bottle of Very Fairy Berry on her head.On Tuesday, she was scheduled for a physical. Because she's close to five, they decided to go ahead and make this her age five physical, which meant she received four shots. That went over gangbusters, as you might imagine. Then, to add insult to injury, they recommended that she have blood drawn for testing.Which meant that today, we got up bright and early to go with Daddy to the lab to have blood drawn, because moorewr has an appointment coming up as well and needed to have blood work done. This way, the two of them could at least compare bandaids. Meg was not pleased about the blood draw, and she told us in no uncertain terms how much it hurt.Tomorrow, thankfully, we are staying home and resting -- hopefully without any further medical interference.
