AI Season 7: Top 24 - Girls · 11/22/2009 This is a public story

i watched the show last night, but i didn't have time to do my write-up. so now here i am. and i haven't watched tonight's show or been spoiled, so that i could still make my predictions.first of all, i thought the show on tuesday was way better than last night's. but the judges disagreed with me and so did michael slezak at EW.com. i haven't read through the flist all day, so i'm curious to see what you all thought.uh oh, we have a flu outbreak. guess that explains where carly was on tuesday night.Kristy Lee Cook - definitely not Kristy's best effort, but i didn't think she was awful. odd choice of song for her, though. i think she's safe for now. and lord, is she gorgeous.holy wow, i am so sick of paula already this season. jeebus.Joanne Borgella - nope, still don't like her voice. there's just something about the tone of it that just grates on my ears. she wasn't jumping off the screen for me charisma-wise, either. i think she's at risk this week.Alaina Whitaker - i didn't know what to expect from her, because all we'd seen up to this point was her first audition. she reminded me of baylie brown in that one, but last night, i could have sworn she was carrie underwood's younger sister. wow, did she remind me of carrie. she even moves her hands like carrie when she's singing. the beginning of her song was a little shaky, but once the tempo picked up, i thought she did quite well. she's a very good performer for someone so young. i'll be interested to see how she does as we go along.Amanda Overmyer - she is so fabulous. hee. i love her. her dry wit alone is enough reason to keep her around for a while, but she's also a great singer. i hated the song (which i'd never heard before, either), but there's no denying her performance. i think that she could probably get kicked off tomorrow, and some band would snatch her up anyway. i think she'll be around a while, though, and i hope she belts out a number at some point, because i agree with simon - she'd probably do it really well.Amy Davis - ok, seriously, the top 12 guys look like they're falling asleep over there. which isn't surprising, given how boring this performance was. i never actually knew this song until kim locke sang it during season two, but she did such an incredible job with it that she spoiled it for anyone else, in my opinion. amy's version was terrible. if she gets through to next week, which i don't think she will, it'll be mainly on the strength of her looks.Brooke White - what i love about her is that, for all her "niceness", she's still a bit of a smartass. she doesn't take shit from simon. LOL. i definitely didn't think her performance was all that great, but i still like her. and at least she wasn't wearing stripes.Alexandrea Lushington - i haaaaaated this. hated. i was 100% with simon. i was glad to see her without a baseball cap, but that was about the only positive. and then she copped such an annoying attitude that i just wanted to smack her. ugh. not for me.Kady Malloy - i thought this was an interesting attempt on her part to change up "groovy kind of love" a little bit, but she just didn't quite get it there. it was ok, just not spectacular. simon was a little too harsh in saying that she only comes to life when she's impersonating people. you can tell she's already tired of hearing about the britney stuff. i think she's better than she showed tonight, so i hope she sticks around at least for one more shot.Asia'h Epperson - when she started, i was like, "joplin? wtf?" but she did a pretty credible job with it, and she sparkled up there on that stage. i still love her.Ramiele Malubay - i already liked her, but her pre-performance interview made me like her even more. i like her quiet confidence. and then i thought she did a really lovely job with the song - she gave me my only goosebumps of the night. i think she could potentially go a long way in this competition.Syesha Mercado - i don't know what i think about her... one minute i like her and the next she's getting on my nerves. she can absolutely sing, but i don't think she's as good as she thinks she is. and that was a weird song choice for her. the camera loves her, though. i think she's safe for at least this week, but she could use a monster ballad or something next week.Carly Smithson - i don't get the way she sings. i just don't. i like her voice well enough, but i hate her phrasing and the way she drags out notes for no reason. and why was she up there in her pajamas? i don't know if it was fair for simon to call her out on the hype, because that's not in her control, but he was right that she needs to do better. i don't know what the hell randy and paula were hearing. she does get points for calling simon "captain fantastic". LOL.man, by the time they get to the recap, i'm like, oh yeah, i forgot that person sang. twelve performances is a lot. so, overall, much more impressed with the guys, but there were some high points with the girls, too.now, on to the elimination show...so chris sligh is writing a column on EW.com this season, critiquing the contestants. i read the first one earlier today, and, well... i might not be able to read any more of them.
