X'mas shopping maddness This is a public story

I have mix feelings for this X'mas. For starters, out of the blue I bought a new Dell labtop for my brother, a 512MB USB key drive for Mom, and a new cell phone (Nokia 6800) for dad (well, I took the new phone, but trade him with my 3-months-old-phone (Nokia 6200), which still wroth $140 in the ebay market; the 6800 only worth $110). The fact is that my Dad isn't so adaptive to technology that even the Nokia 6200 has more features than he knows how to use. I've been thinking to get him a cheaper phone that has the features he needs and sell the 6200, but you know what? The smile on his face when he got the phone and listen to the polymophic ring tone prolly worth more than $140.Apparently my brother likes the labtop a lot, he's been wanting his own labtop for quite a few years now, well, 3.5 years to be exact. Ever since I got my Sony VAIO, he's been so jealous of it. When I lost it in London last year, mom promised him to get him a new one for X'mas (and made me promise to pay for half of it). So, to serve up my promise (and earn some good bridey points from my brother) I decided to get him a new one all by myself. As for the USB drive, just like any other gadgets that I got for myself (cell phones, palm, etc.) mom has to have one after seeing that I got one. SO, I bought her one for X'mas from e-bay, and let her borrow mine while it's shipping here.I got Lucy something too... that little something extra that makes her look complete, it costed $179, but I think it's well worth it. She likes it alot, that's all it counts. :-DIn return, I didn't expect anything, but mom and dad got me a $500+ camcorder. I donno what I'm gonna use it for.. except to show it off in front of friends and use it for the X'mas vacation in Orlando, which, will cost our family $1000+...I suppose X'mas is a money spending season, but my family and I's spending trend is just especially abnormal. It seems like that we're despertly looking for some family bonding, despertly looking for some fun as a family, despertly looking for a way to cover up the fear of death and sickness by buying happiness with money that we can spend and time that we have left.
