P.M.S. (Post Meteor-Freak Stress) Clark/Chloe - One-Shot Coda for Freak - This is a public story

P.M.S. (Post Meteor-Freak Stress) One-Shot Coda for FreakBy Denisekdsch123Pairing: Clark/ChloeRating: GAcknowledgements: CW, DC and Goughlar own all, except for the Star Wars references. Star Wars and its sequels belong entirely to George Lucas and his creative staff. Not mine, I know it, they know it and so do you, Gentle Reader. Spoilers: Freak, and Season SixSummary: Chloe and Clark try to figure out her what her meteor power might be. Maybe you just dont have powers. Clark said, watching his best friend squint her pretty hazel eyes at the tin can shed balanced on the half wall of the horse-stall in the Kent barn. It had taken some doing, even with super strength and speed, to pull Chloe out of the Daily Planet in the hopes of distracting her, but as usual, Chloe wasnt about to just let this go. So, theyd been working on trying to find out what her meteor abilities were since shed found out that shed been affected by the meteor shower. Chloe looked away from the can and pierced Clark with a glance that had to be part Krypto powered, because Clark felt his spine shrink. Its a possibility. He said lamely, offering Chloe a consoling smile. Chloe sighed, rubbing her eyes. Because every other person affected by the meteors doesnt have any special abilities. Clark, I know there has to be something. She walked over to the can and knocked it off the wall with one finger, watching it fall to the ground and land with a soft clank. I guess being out here in the cold is better than moping in the Daily Planets basement, though.Youre pretty good at getting into computer systems, Chloe. Maybe thats your power. Clark offered reasonably, and then he sat down on a stool and frowned. I know Im the last one who should be giving relationship advice, Chloe, but have you talked to Jimmy about this? No. Chloe shook her head, hoping Clark would not pursue the matter. I didnt. She walked around the wall and picked up the can, turning it over in her hands. Did I make that dent? She asked hopefully and Clark shook his head.Nope. Clark stood and took the can from Chloe. Is there a reason why you havent told Jimmy about this?I dont know Clark, why wouldnt I tell Jimmy? Again, Chloe speared Clark with that same piercing glare. Ill call Jimmy if YOU call Lana. A round of To Tell The Truth might be healthy for all of us. She sighed, seeing the abashed expression on Clarks face. Im sorry, Clark. I realize theres more at stake for you, but I dont want Jimmy to see me any differently. He already thinks Smallville is straight out of the X-Files, Id like to spare him the knowledge that his girlfriend is one of the freaks.I think youre not giving Jimmy enough credit. Clark heard the words come out of his mouth and shook his head. Was he actually defending Jimmy Olsen? Hes a nice guy and he really does care about you, Chloe.I know he does, Clark. I just dont want to overload him until I have a handle on whats going on. Ill tell him, I promise. Chloe looked at the tin can in Clarks hand for a moment, and then laughed. So. Whatever my meteor power is, its not telekinesis. Too bad, because that would have been a handy ability to have.Clark laughed too, and nodded, dropping the can in the recycling bin. Nope. Maybe your meteor power just needs to come out on its own. He waved his hand in the air as he spoke, making his voice soft and deep. Stop stressing about this. What was that? Chloe asked, and Clark grinned. Jedi mind tricks? Cute, Clark. She giggled. Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are not.It was worth a try. My own abilities show up on their own and you never know, mind control might be next. I think that could be a pretty useful power. Clark replied casually, draping an arm over Chloes shoulders. Come on, Skywalker. Lets get some hot chocolate in you before you freeze.Good idea. Chloe moved closer, as much for warmth as for the selfish pleasure of getting to breathe Clark in a little. Mind control, huh?Yeah. Clark nodded. Theres really no call for knowing how to use a light saber in Smallville. Naturally. Chloe grinned up at him as they crossed the yard to the house. Only you would find a way to bring Star Wars into this. It was late, and the sky was an upturned bowl full of stars above them. Trying to find the answers to lifes questions and defeat the Empire all at once. Is there anything that you think Star Wars cant fix?No, actually. Come on, Chloe. No better cure for post meteorfreak stress than watching the Death Star blow up. Clark grinned, holding open the kitchen door for her. Ill even make popcorn. Kent House specialty, extra butter, extra salt.Chloe waved her hand at Clark as she passed him on her way into the house. Go to town for a chai latte for me. She grinned, and Clark blinked, his face going completely blank. Chloe stared at him, biting her lip. Did I really do it? Chloe thought, watching Clark as he looked at the door and then at Chloe, his face expressionless. Ill go to town for youget you a chai latte. Clark said dully, before turning and speeding away, reappearing in moment with the steaming drink. Chloe bit her lip expectantly and Clark grinned, breaking the spell a little more by rumpling her hair. If I had been mind controlled, Id forget that this little treat just cost me five bucks. Clark handed the cup to Chloe. She shrugged and sipped at it, a small smile dancing in her eyes. Okay. Ready for some intergalactic adventure with Luke and Leia?Yes, you big tease. I really thought I made you go. Chloe grinned down into her steaming cup of chai. So much for Jedi mind tricks. She followed Clark into the living room and sat down on the couch. Youre right. Mind control would be a great power to have. Id abuse it on a daily basis.Chloe, do you know what your meteor power is? Clark asked, putting the dvd into the player. Your power is being the best friend anyone could ask for. Thats no small thing. He picked up the remote and sat down beside Chloe. I know its been pretty powerful for me.Chloe sat back, and rested her head on Clarks shoulder briefly. Super charm must be one of your powers, Kent, because that was a perfectly sweet thing to say. Its a gift. Clark laughed, and Chloe rolled her eyes as the very familiar theme music began to play. Looking down at Chloe, Clark found himself wondering what her meteor ability might turn out to be. And he hoped, and prayed that whatever it was, hed be able to help her through it, like shed always done for him.
