Right now, I am reading the book "Candyfreak" by Steve Almond (yes, he does realize that a guy who is candy obsessed AND have the last name of Almond is a one-in-a-million chance...) A review on the front of this book claims that "Steve Almond is the Dave Eggers of food writing". Iwouldn't say "food writing" per se, (as his only other book is called "My Life in Heavy Metal")but definitely candy/chocolate writing. Certain passages describe chocolate in a flat-out fetish kind of way,a way that I have heard other people discuss shoes orhandbound books. All in all, an interesting, fast read.
This weekend I am sequestered indoors to do all of the scanning anddigital clean-up work for Red Letter Day. Soon, I hope to have some sort of contact/webpage up to inform the uninformed - not enough hours in the day! A version of Quark Express will come into my life within the next 48 hours so that I can 1. learn the program and 2. do the layout. Talk about trial by fire-I never seem to do anything halfway...
This early eve will bring aboutbook art-ish pursuits with a group of friends down at the SF Center for the Book; snacks and paper and glue - oh my!
